Director Youth and Young Adult Ministries

We are Rock Springs UMC a small community church (www. rsumc.org) located at 1100 Rock Springs Road in Lawrenceville GA. We have an opportunity for a part time position to be responsible for the development, organization and administration of our church programs for middle/high school youth and young adults. This is an excellent opportunity for a person who has a passion for engaging youth and young adults in a ministry to follow Jesus Christ and the doctrines of the Methodist Church.

This position will report to the Senior Pastor and work with appropriate laity and church committees to:

Establish curriculum/study plans that include Christian Living, knowledge of God, Jesus and His teachings, Christian History, World Religions, Methodist History and Basic Theology.
Develop and implement weekly programs containing worship, Bible study, Prayer, and social (fun) activities for youth and young adults.
Develop a trusting relationship with youth and young adults to increase their involvement in the church.
Work with parents/guardians to enhance youth participation in the life of the church.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Demonstrates personal spiritual maturity and integrity
Demonstrates theological agreement with church purpose, goals and mission
Has relevant education and experience with youth and young adults
Is able to communicate and operate effectively within contemporary youth and young adult culture
Demonstrates the ability to be a self starter working with minimal supervision and flexibility in working hours.
Demonstrates a care for youth/young adults of all ages, their faith, their life and their future in and outside the church through programs and development of personal Christian goals.
